Benefits of Coconut Oil - Stop putting chemicals on your skin [13 Dec 2016|02:25pm]

Coconut oil can provide a fun and nutrient packed way to help you take care of your skin.

Before applying it to your skin, please note that absorption may vary depending on a number of factors, including skin texture and thickness. When you apply it, be sure not to apply too much in any single area. This may permit it to sit on the surface of your skin, where it may be more easily rubbed off onto something that it could ultimately stain.

As a rule, apply only as much as your body will easily absorb and remember that a little bit goes a looong way. So, if your skin is too oily after applying coconut oil, use less next time and save a little money.

For decades, people have been using it for a long list of beauty related purposes, including (in alphabetical order):

Aging skin (it naturally contains anti-oxidants, including Vitamin E)
Body scrub (diy recipe included below)
Cuticle softener
Eye cream
Facial cleanser
Foot health
Lip balm (diy recipe included below)
Make-up removal
Scalp massage
Shaving cream replacement
Skin hydration and moisturizer (elbows, hands, feet, eyes, face, neck)

In a body scrub, coconut oil can play the leading role or it may be used as part of the supporting cast.

To make one of the easiest Do-It-Yourself (DIY) body scrubs you will ever find, just combine equal parts coconut and sugar. Then mix these two ingredients together with a spoon, until well blended.

Pineapple Smoothie [16 Aug 2008|11:05am]

[ mood | working ]

I do enjoy a good, nutritious SMOOTHIE!  I have tons of recipes but this is one of the simple ones:

1 can unsweetened pineapple chunks -- 20 ounces

1 C. buttermilk

2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 tsp. liquid sweetener

Mint leaves, optional

Drain pineapple, reserving 1/2 cup juice. Freeze pineapple chunks. Place juice, buttermilk, vanilla, sweetener and frozen pineapple into a blender container. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and garnish with mint if desired. Serve immediately.

How about this most "fruity" one: Banana, Strawberry and Chocolate Smoothie

You can make these at home, and they are much cheaper than what they serve in the malls.

Hi, I'm new! *waves*

Here's my favourite smoothie recipe:

1 small mango,
1 large or 2 small passion fruits,
1 small orange.

I really love simple smoothies with just a few ingredients eg. papaya and pineapple.

Plus, I usually add hemp seeds or flax seeds to my smoothies too 'cos they're good for you :D
